An ultrawideband (UWB) band pass filter (BPF) with a single notched band is presented in this article according to the UWB system and is easy to be interfered with the narrow band signals. To avoid the undesired interferences such as wireless local area networks signals, an embedded open‐circuited stub (EOS) is used to obtain a narrow notched band. The proposed filter is mainly composed of one composite right/left handed transmission line unit cell and an EOS. The simulation results show that 3‐dB passband of the BPF is from 2.68 to 10.75 GHz. The variation of group delay is less than 0.1 ns in the passband except for the notched band. The characteristic of frequency response at center frequency around 5.25 GHz is about −38 dB which represents the good rejection performance. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
