In this article, we present a dual‐band coplanar waveguide‐fed slot antenna for 1.7/2.3 GHz long term evolution and wireless broadband frequencies. The proposed antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.4. By cutting a pair of rotated T‐shaped slits in the circular radiating stub, a new resonance at the lower frequencies is generated, and also by embedding a meander‐line slit in the ground plane a good dual‐band operation antenna can be achieved. The measured impedance bandwidth for 10 dB return loss is from 1.57 to 1.73 GHz (13%) and 2.21 to 2.38 GHz (10.0%), covering the 1.7/2.3 GHz for the dual‐band wireless operations. Simulated and experimental results obtained for this antenna show that the proposed slot antenna has a good antenna gain and radiation behavior. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
