This article presents a high‐selectivity tri‐mode wideband bandpass filter. The shunted short‐ and open‐stub loaded resonators are analyzed that three modes are generated and combined within the passband. Circuit parameter analysis shows that the lower and upper passband bandwidths can be independently controlled, which can simplify the design and optimize process. Besides, two transmission zeros are generated at the lower and upper stopband to supply a very sharp passband selectivity. The prototype filters' performance is validated through both simulations and experiments, where good agreement can be observed. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
