A hybrid multifrequency antenna is designed by using a cubic dielectric resonator antenna and coplanar wave guide (CPW) loop radiator. The dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is also excited by the same CPW. The DRA in conjunction with the CPW loop generates multiple frequencies which may be controlled by optimizing the dimension of the DRA and the dimensions of the CPW slot. Six different resonant frequencies are observed between 2 and 7 GHz. The return loss, radiation pattern, and gain are measured for the antenna in all six different frequencies. The simulated and experimental results show good match. The proposed antenna can be used for mobile and wireless LAN communication. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
