In this article, various methods for designing a slot antenna with triple band‐notched characteristics for UWB applications are proposed. The presented antenna contains a slotted ground plane with an extra inverted U‐shaped slot at its top, coupled rectangular element with circular slot on its center, and a L‐shaped strip. The experimental results show that the designed antenna, with compact size of 20 × 22 mm 2 , has an impedance bandwidth from 2.65 to 13. 5GHz for VSWR≤ 2, except three frequency stop‐bands WiMAX, wireless local area network, and ITU. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
