In this article, a simple and efficient approach is proposed to reduce the mutual coupling between two dual‐band planar inverted‐F antennas. The present isolation structures including one defected ground structure and two “F”‐type strips are introduced to effectively reduce the mutual coupling for two worldwide interoperability for microwave access/2.5 GHz/3.5 GHz bands. By the present method, at least 6 dB reductions of mutual couplings for the two working frequency bands have been obtained, which are verified by measurement results. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
