In this work, a reduced size planarized antenna based on metamaterial split‐ring resonators (SRRs), for personal communications, is presented. The antenna is based on different size concentric SRRs that operates in the R band, centered at 2.3 GHz. The antenna area is about 15 × 25 mm 2 , approximately. The measured antenna gain is around −3 dB, with an omnidirectional pattern, and the measured bandwidth is about 1 GHz. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:2345–2350, 2013
