This article reports a novel coplanar waveguide varactor‐tuned bandpass filter based on a colinear resonator. The equivalent circuit of the new filter is analyzed. The passband of the filter can be tuned from 0.68 to 1.37 GHz by varying the capacitance of the varactor diode. The insertion loss of this filter changes from 0.9 to 1.3 dB across the tuning range. The 3‐dB bandwidth changes from 141 to 153 MHz as the filter is tuned from 0.68 to 1.18 GHz. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:2389–2393, 2013
