An X‐band filter with low insertion loss and high stop‐band rejection based on low temperature co‐fired ceramic technology is designed in this article. The filter is achieved using multilayered stepped‐impedance resonators structure. By converting microstrip lines of different layers to coplanar microstrip lines, the I/O ports are realized by the surface feed structure. Finite transmission zeros are distributed in the lower and upper stop‐bands to achieve a high stop‐band rejection. The measured results of the filter coincide well with the electromagnetic simulation results. The filter exhibits an insertion loss of lower than 1.2 dB from 9.4 to 10.1 GHz, and achieves 36 dB and 41.4 dB of attenuation at 7.8 and 11.7 GHz, respectively. The size of the filter is 5.0 × 4.5 × 1.96 mm 3 . © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:2003–2006, 2013
