Interchip communication on a multichip module or silicon interposer continues to rely on copper transmission lines. While very short reach optical communication is expected to provide advantage in bandwidth density, millimeter data transmission may offer additional options in phase and amplitude modulation leading to higher data rates per channel. In this communication, we consider the fabrication options for silicon filled rectangular waveguide and investigate their frequency dispersion by simulating the waveguide channel and obtaining the S‐parameters. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
