We develop a phase interrogation optical waveguide sensor by integrating a phase modulator and a sensing transducer fabricated with the same Zn‐indiffused lithium niobate substrate. The proposed sensing chip effectively reduces the footprint of the measurement setup and has the potential to provide a compact module for a portable metrology system. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
