In this article, we present an efficient de‐embedding technique based on the characteristic basis function method for an accurate evaluation of the “generalized S‐parameters” for microstrip circuits and antennas etched on layered media. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the reliability and computational efficiency of the described procedure. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
