Abstract For the first time, a vertically S‐shaped short‐ended stepped‐impedance resonator (SIR) is proposed to design a compact low temperature co‐fired ceramic (LTCC) dual‐band bandpass filter (BPF).The proposed SIR as a transmission line resonator can be used in high‐frequency application, and the size of the SIR can be miniaturized greatly because it is vertically folded in LTCC. Three transmission zeros in the stopbands are achieved by using the electric and magnetic mixed coupling schemes. The demonstrated dual‐band BPF at 5.8/10 GHz is designed and fabricated. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
