Abstract A slot‐type complement split‐ring resonator (CSRR) as a new type of perturbation element for dual‐mode circular patch resonator is proposed in this letter.The slot‐type CSRR used in the patch resonator perturbs the field distributions of circular patch resonators and excites degenerate modes. By changing the orientations of the CSRRs, coupling characteristics can be adjusted. The proposed dual‐mode bandpass filters are designed, fabricated, and measured. The simulation results of proposed bandpass filter are in good with the measurement ones. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
