Compact triple‐band monopole antenna with two strips for WLAN/WiMAX applications

A novel printed monopole antenna with triple‐band operations has been designed and implemented. The antenna consists of a microstrip feed line, a ground plane, and two strips that play very important roles in the antenna performance. Experimental results indicate that two more resonant modes can be obtained by using the two strips, and three operating bands, which can effectively cover 2.4/5.8 GHz WLAN and 3.5 GHz WiMAX bands, can be obtained by adjusting the dimensions of the two strips. The proposed antenna has a small size of dimensions 12 × 32 mm 2 . Detailed designs and experimental results are reported in this article. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
