A novel dual‐resonance ultrahigh frequency radiofrequency identification reader antenna at 868 or 915 MHz is proposed which has a square metal patch with two truncated corners, four inserted slits of equal lengths, a circular slot, and a substrate with two rectangular slots. The antenna achieves 70 MHz bandwidths, 3.7 dBi gains, and a good radiation pattern. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
