All‐optical frequency upconversion utilizing a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is experimentally demonstrated. Eight optical radiofrequency (RF) signals having the RF frequency of 26.5 GHz are simultaneously generated by four‐wave mixing in the SOA. Power penalties for simultaneous generation of eight optical RF signals are less than 1.1 dB. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
