Periodic perturbation of the dielectric medium following Bragg's law and equalizing mode velocities together suppress the first spurious response in coupled‐line filters. The design parameters are calculated using the classical coupled‐line filter design. Fabricating a Chebyshev filter; for the bisected unit cell, spurious response suppression of 35 dB is achieved. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
