A recent article has proposed a simplified model, based on the quantum‐mechanical concept of the pseudopotential, for certain types of array elements, particularly for short linear dipoles. A modification of that model that works for a large number of cases is presented here. The modification consists of replacing the complex pseudopotential parameter A by a properly defined real value of A, and is expected to greatly enable future analytical studies. The range of the dipoles' parameters for which the modified model is successful and carefully described. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
