A dual‐wideband coplanar waveguide‐fed monopole antenna based on complementary split‐ring (CSR) resonators is introduced for wireless fidelity and worldwide interoperability for microwave access applications. The proposed CSR monopole antenna has a compact size and provides 31.5% and 9.4% impedance bandwidth at the respective bands. The antenna exhibits uniform radiation patterns at each frequency band. Analysis and design of the proposed antenna are performed by means of Ansoft HFSS. The measurement results of the fabricated antenna are in good agreement with the simulation results. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
