Two‐dimensional meander line‐loaded monopole antennas are presented in this article. They provide either multibands or ultrawideband (UWB). For multiband antenna, the total area is 58 × 60 mm 2 and it covers the following bands: 0.9, 1.85, 2.1, 2.5, 3.5, and 5.2 GHz. The UWB antenna is achieved by connecting in parallel four meander line‐loaded monopoles with different lengths. Its total area is 150 × 80 mm 2 and the obtained bandwidth extends from 0.9 to 10 GHz. The antennas are matched to a 50‐Ω line feed without the need for an external matching network. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
