A novel space‐borne Ka/S dual‐band antenna is proposed in this article, in which the waveguide TE 21 ‐mode automatic tracking is used for the Ka‐band. The two bands are common in structure but independent from each other electrically, thus the installation space specifications of the satellite platform can be met. The antenna design procedures as well as the measurement results are presented. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
