To eliminate the temperature influence on pressure sensor, high birefringence photonic crystal fiber is introduced to fiber loop mirror to sensing pressure. In the pressure 0∼1.5 Mpa range, pressure sensor with the sensitivity of 3.76 nm/Mpa is realized theoretically and experimental. Also, a novel demodulation method with the sensitivity of 6.67 dB/Mpa is proposed that changing the wavelength shift into power, which decreased the cost sharply. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
