A wideband printed dual ring loop antenna is presented for the 5.2/5.4/5.8 GHz wide local area network (WLAN) and intelligent transfer system (ITS) band applications. The proposed antenna consists of dual ring loops, which are radiating ring loop and modified ring loop by ground plane. This antenna is fed by a coplanar waveguide. This provides wideband performance and relatively good matching. Considering a return loss criterion of less than 10 dB, the antenna operates in frequency bands of 4.83–6.25 GHz. A parametric study has also been conducted by varying the spacing between the dual rings to analyze its effect on the resonant frequency. The operating frequency bands of the antenna are able to support WLAN (5.15–5.825 GHz) and ITS (5.75–6.25 GHz) bands. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
