Left‐handed material (LHM) is a hot topic of research due to its astonishing characteristics. S‐shaped resonator (SSR) is one of the resonators, which can be used to fabricate LHM. In this article, a simple expression for the effective permeability of SSR is presented and is verified by the experimental results. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
