Design of a K‐band reflectarray antenna using 15 × 15 double square ring elements printed on a single substrate and backed by a ground plane separated by an air layer is proposed. The double square ring element supplies a 530° dynamic range of the reflection phase variation, and the phasing curves are nearly linear. A prototype is manufactured and tested, and good agreements between simulation and measurement are demonstrated. The measured gain is about 23 dBi at the center frequency 24 GHz, and the 1‐dB gain bandwidth is about 20%. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
