This communication proposes a compact microstrip band‐stop filter. It is developed by loading a microstrip line section with deformed omega‐type microstrip. Various loading configurations are considered using electromagnetic simulation. Prototype band‐stop filters were fabricated and measured as well. Well‐matched simulated results and experimental data validate the proposed configuration. A discussion on how different structures affect the stop‐band is given. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
