Recently, wideband antennas with band‐notched behavior have attracted increasing interest. This paper presents a conical monopole antenna with four C‐shaped slots to achieve improved band‐rejection behavior with at least 28 dB of gain suppression. Compared to previous work reported in the literature, the antenna provides a relatively wide rejection band with increased gain suppression, at the notch‐band center frequency. The antenna also provides an omnidirectional radiation pattern at frequencies within the operating band. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
