Abstract This letter presents a novel approach for designing quad‐band bandpass filter with independently controlled center frequencies.Assembled resonator constructed by a stepped impedance resonator (SIR) and a stub‐loaded SIR is employed to obtain quad‐band responses. The SIR is designed to operate at the second and fourth passbands and the stub‐loaded SIR is designed to operate at the first and third passbands. Good agreement is shown between the simulation and the measurement, the resonators are meandered to give an overall circuit size of about 21.8 × 30.2 mm 2 . © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
