Abstract A bandpass filter is designed for the applications of ultra‐wideband (UWB) wireless communication. The designed bandpass filter covers the whole UWB passband of 3.1–10.6 GHz, and its construction is achieved by using a distributed high‐pass filter with frequent short‐circuited stubs and a low‐pass filter with step impedance lines. Within the whole UWB passband, the insertion loss lower than 1.65 dB and the group delay variation less than 0.27 ns are measured. This bandpass filter for UWB applications has the miniature size of 9.5 × 5.0 mm 2 , and the measured electrical performances have good agreement with simulation results. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
