Abstract Two important effects that can lead to extensive detrimental effects in short‐range radio‐over‐multimode‐fiber systems are presented. The theoretical and experimental work shows transmitter chirp and receiver imperfections determining the degree of both RF gain variations as well as optical power variations. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
