This article demonstrates an optical fiber sensor using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and a Piezo‐electrical transducer (PZT) to measure noise.Mounting an FBG on a PZT bar, a dynamic strain simulator was constructed. The voltage produced by noise level applied on PZT was converted to the dynamic variation of FBG Bragg wavelength. The experiments showed that the sensitivity of center‐wavelength variations is 0.0129 nm/dB for noise measurement between 85.3 and 105.2 dB. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
