A dual‐band bandpass filter using a new dual‐band dual‐behavior resonator (DBR) structure is proposed.The new dual‐band DBR consists of only two stopband elements connected in parallel. One is a uniform impedance open‐circuited stub and the other is a stepped impedance open‐circuited stub. The concept of stepped impedance resonator is utilized to realize the sencond band characteristics at desired frequencies. Experimental results in microstrip technology are presented, which validate our idea. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
