A new approach for modeling the mutual coupling in multiple‐input multiple‐output antennas is introduced. The effects of the mutual coupling are described by a linear time invariant model. The introduced technique offers several advantages: first, an analytical model is achieved, and, from this description, a method for reducing the mutual coupling is proposed. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
