In this article, a design of planar circularly polarized slot antenna is presented. The proposed antenna has a simple structure consisting of a modified circle‐like slot ground plane, T‐shaped structure act as a tuning stub of the antenna, placed at the opposite side of the feed. The parametric analysis of the antenna is done by the available electromagnetic solver HFSS. The proposed antenna is developed, and its measured characteristics are in good agreement with the simulated results. From experimental results, the antenna can generate two bands centered at about 1.59 and 3.78 GHz to cover the global position system and the 3.5‐GHz WiMAX band. Good return loss and radiation pattern characteristics are obtained over the two operation bands. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
