A compact monopole antenna with a tuning stub for USB dongle applications is proposed. The proposed stub‐loaded monopole antenna covers the WiBro, WLAN, WiMAX, and S‐DMB (Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcast) bands. The overall dimension of the fabricated antenna is 20 × 50 × 0.8 mm 3 . The measured −10 dB reflection bandwidths for two resonant frequencies are 25.5% (2105–2720 MHz) and 12.8% (5145–5848 MHz). The radiation patterns approximate an omni‐directional pattern. The measured peak gain of the antenna is 3.67 dBi. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
