This article introduces a new model of base station antenna used to communicate with mobile vehicles such as cars, trains, etc., providing high data rate for passengers on bord. This is a high gain sectoral electromagnetic band gap antenna, to limit the number of base stations along the covered way and to improve the wireless communication system. In this work, the base station antenna, which operates on the 5.47–5.725 GHz mobile WiMAX band, is designed and realized. Measurement and simulation results are shown. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
