In this article, we have proposed a compact chip antenna for UWB applications. The proposed antenna consists of two metal (top and bottom), one via, two pads, and CPWG feeding. The proposed chip antenna occupies a compact area of 6 mm × 6 mm × 1 mm and shows a low profile of 1 mm, thus making it suitable for thin mobile phone applications. The proposed chip antenna has a point‐source‐like radiation pattern, ultra‐wideband, compact size, almost flat gain, and low‐cost. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
