A simple design for a wideband bandpass filter is presented.A compact filter structure is achieved by placing a microstrip ring between two parallel coupling gaps. 3D electromagnetic simulation and measurement of the proposed filter validate its wideband characteristics. The proposed filter exhibits good insertion loss <1.2 dB and group delay variation <0.2 ns. Both simulated and measured results show good agreement. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
