An approach to generating repetition‐rate‐doubled return‐to‐zero pulse trains with a 33%‐duty‐cycle is proposed.A phase‐modulated light is divided into two parts having orthogonal polarization‐states, which are injected into a chirped‐fiber‐Bragg‐grating in inverse directions. A return‐to‐zero pulse consisting of odd‐order sidebands is then formed, which is confirmed by a fabricated grating. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
