A wideband folded sectorial bowtie antenna with Γ‐shaped strip feed is designed. This feed mechanism is easy to adjust the impedance match. The folded sectorial bowtie antenna (FSBA) shows many advantages over the ordinary sectorial bowtie antenna (SBA). It achieves an impedance bandwidth of 94% for VSWR ≤ 2 ranging from 2.7 to 7.5 GHz, unidirectional radiation patterns, low back radiation, and low cross polarization over the whole operating band. The design is optimized numerically and validated experimentally. It is sufficient for accommodating recent wireless communication services such as WiFi, WiMAX, and lower UWB, etc. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
