We propose a technique for the measurement of Stokes parameters of terahertz radiation in terahertz time‐domain spectroscopy (THz‐TDS). In this technique, a rotatable wire‐grid THz polarizer is placed in front of a two‐contact photoconductive THz detector. Stokes parameters can be measured by making two temporal scans corresponding to two angles of the polarizer. We theoretically demonstrate that the two angles can be −45° and 45° for achieving the statistically best measurement accuracy in a single test. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
