Abstract To investigate compact shape bandpass filter, a second‐order microstrip with three controllable finite transmission zero points is proposed in this article. The U‐shape slots are designed to suppress spurious band, and controllable stopband characteristics can be achieved simultaneously, as well as skirt selectivity. The simulated results agree very well with measurements. When compared with other similar structure, the proposed filter is much more efficient than other counterpart. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
