A novel broadband circularly polarized slot antenna is presented in this article. The antenna is fed by a step‐shaped coplanar waveguide (CPW). A central symmetry slot is etched in the center of the patch to create circularly polarized wave. A rectangle slot beside the CPW is applied to improve the impedance characteristic of the antenna. The presented antenna has axial ratio and impedance bandwidth of around 33.3 and 71%. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
