A series‐fed elliptically polarized array antenna is proposed for X‐band systems. Symmetrical series feeding at the array antenna center and truncated patches are applied to reduce side lobe levels (SLL) by modeling the array factor. A series‐fed elliptically polarized array antenna is proposed for X‐band systems. Symmetrical series feeding at the array antenna center and truncated patches are applied to reduce SLLs by modeling the array factor. The measured gain is 24.8 dBic and the axial ratio is between 3 and 6 dB. The SLLs are −19.0 and −16.2 dB in the zx and yz plane, respectively. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
