This article demonstrates, for the first time, a dual‐band branch line coupler based on composite right‐/left‐handed transmission lines with series capacitors only. The complete elimination of shunt inductors provides a potential for the proposed CRLH transmission lines to be applicable to high frequencies, especially without via‐holes in microstrip lines. Experimental results are in excellent agreements with the simulated results. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
