The output characteristics of a single‐mode fiber Fabry‐Perot resonator at 1.55 μm operation is experimentally studied with a continuous‐wave laser and pulse light input. In the case of pulse light input, two aspects, considering and no considering birefringence, are discussed. The results obtained are very important for the application of single‐mode fiber Fabry‐Perot resonator. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
