In a recent article by Tezel (Microwave and Optical Technology Letters 50 (2008), 2768–2772), it is claimed that a new formulation and a solution method for the electromagnetic scattering problems related to cylindrical dielectric objects of arbitrary shape is presented. The author makes basic mathematical mistakes in the formulation and as a result we have serious doubts about the correctness of the presented numerical results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
