This article experimentally demonstrates an active adaptive optics system based on a liquid‐crystal on silicon chip to correct for aberrations in an artificial eye. By comparing the experimentally obtained and simulated PSF images before and after correction, results show that the chip can perform wavefront corrections in the optical system. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
