In this article, theoretical analyses are carried out for integral equations associated with cavity Green's functions. When cavities are fully enclosed and lossless, conventional integral equations are ill‐posed at cavities' resonant frequencies. As a remedy, modified integral equations are formulated around resonances, and they are theoretically proved to be well‐posed. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
